The Feminist Agenda Is Not About Equal Rights For Women

Pat Robertson is a TV celebrity that has always made the news for his inappropriate comments regarding pretty much anything that goes against his evangelical ways. He is an absurdly conservative political activist, which has left him to say notorious things and be hated by many. For example, he declared The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians†. Gay writes about the different types of feminists and how she is not a the essenti al feminist that is often the reason for the stereotypes of feminists. Although feminists often choose not to get married due to the fact that they do not want to feel oppressed under a man that thinks a woman is inferior to him just by her gender. By choosing to stay single they focus on other parts of their lives that would otherwise be limited by being married. Because some choose to develop their friendships and work on their careers instead of looking for a relationship that does not automatically mean that all feminists are not interested in getting married and having a family. Feminist have been wrongly stereotyped as women that hate kids. Due to the fact that feminists are also stereotyped as men hating, which by biological means if women do not have a relationship with a man they cannot bear children. As for the reality about feminists and their desire for children is a personal choice, but for most they are interested in having a family. Gay says â€Å"I love babies , and I want to have one†(316) she also says â€Å"I worry about dying alone, unmarried and childless, because I spent too much time pursuing my career and accumulating degrees†(316).
