Discursive Essay †Footballers Do Not Deserve The High Salaries They Command

Desultory Essay †Footballers Do Not Deserve The High Salaries They Command Free Online Research Papers Desultory Essay Footballers Do Not Deserve The High Salaries They Command Numerous individuals feel that footballers are paid a lot of cash for doing too little exertion. Be that as it may, this can be contended on the grounds that they are individuals who have devoted as long as they can remember to this game and thusly they ought to be compensated. This leads us to the inquiry: Do footballers merit significant compensations? Right off the bat, some renowned footballers are paid colossal measures of cash, for example, Ronaldo who are paid a great many euros consistently. This causes us to feel that it is preposterous that there are such huge numbers of individuals kicking the bucket of starvation on the planet and these individuals are given such a lot of cash for playing out an irrelevant exertion. It even cause us to feel bothered to know how these football players squander their cash in needs that are of no utilization, for example, Etoo, (a renowned football player in Football Club Barcelona, informally said by the Spanish individuals â€Å"Barsa†) who has around fifteen costly vehicles. A ton of cash is required for some reasons: for instance for the guide of starving individuals in the less monetarily created nations or in the structure of more medical clinics for our own wellbeing and security. Also, individuals contend that there are different callings that give far considerably more to the populace that footballers do and that they are ineffectively paid in examination. They ought to be paid more. Others even imagine that what they are paid would be advocated in the event that they performed better in the real matches. Numerous individuals state that one objective in an hour and a half match or a draw infers a terrible quality execution. Then again, the assessment of the observers is that these players have committed their full lives to their activity which includes brutal preparing and the support of physical wellness through extraordinary every day preparing so he must be under the weight of their coach who expects them to be totally fit and train carefully. Besides, aside from the weight applied from their educator, they are under the weight of the crowd. They have consistently to play accurately and not commit any error with the goal that the media and the open won't condemn them. A solitary mistake would speak to a potential finish of the profession of that player. Moreover, we need to consider the way that the period of retirement for an expert football player is of around 30-40 years (depending of the physical condition of the player) which implies that this individual depends on target he has picked up in his short lifetime as an expert footballer along these lines football players need the cash for the future so they can support themselves and their people in the future. At long last, the football business is private, no open cash takes care of for the tabs so for what reason would it be a good idea for us to think about what amount are the players paid? It is a game that is appreciated by a large number of individuals and it is known all over the place so it is possibly evident that these players merit the cash, that their ability merits this cash. Taking everything into account, my feeling is that footballers don’t perform such a basic, undemanding and easy occupation, they commit their lives to this game so the individuals can appreciate it and it is very unpredictable for them to keep up their physical quality and wellness to endure an hour and a half running. They additionally are under a ton of weight from their teachers, media and the entire crowd. In any case, I do consider that the entirety of cash they are paid is very over misrepresented, it is excessively and regardless of whether it isn't that simple to turn into an expert player, the exertion isn't worth a large number of euros and I accept that a portion of these cash ought to be for different purposes, for example, halting the starvation and starvation on the planet. So footballers ought to be made up for their exertion yet with such a lot of cash. How impetuously Essays

How hastily Essays How hastily Paper How hastily Paper Levelheadedness, restrict to recklessness, implies that before one settles on a choice, one would consider over the choice and thinking ahead about the result to settle on sure he choice is sensible and shrewd. Shakespearean play of Romeo Juliet, passes on the message of how that little sparkle of recklessness during ones high school years can prompt negative and annihilating results, of which changed ones life perpetually in a not ideal way. Romeo, the hero of the play, is an ideal case of a young person whose choices and activities depend on recklessness. Take Romeos relationship among Rosalie and Juliet for Instance. In the start of the play, Romeo was bemoaning to Benevolent how he adored Rosalie, how Roseanne Is the main live of his life, and how he was unable to live without her. One more attractive than my affection? The omniscient sun Newer saw her match since first world started ( Act 1, Scene 2, 94-95) However, he relinquished the adoration for Rosalie in a split second after observing Juliet just because. Presently, Rosalie was a sworn lady, so Romeos give up of his adoration to her doesn't influence her. Be that as it may, Juliet isn't, envision how might Juliet respond to a similar circumstance had Romeo done likewise to her? Would not she be crushed and scarred? This shows during ones high school years, one can be flighty about affection, which may bring about somebody getting injured genuinely and intellectually. Another great exhibition of Romeos hastiness is the union with Juliet. Romeo had just known Juliet for an amazingly short measure of time. Be that as it may, Romeo despite everything chooses to wed Juliet inside long stretches of seeing her just because. This Decision was totally pointless and Impetuous for first, he knows negligible Information about Juliet, and second, Juliet Is a Caplet. He sworn foe of his family. This choice would Likely reason shock and a sentiment of disgrace and disrespect among the two families, consequently beginning inescapable quarrel and battles between the two families which can raise besides ruckus as the Prince of Verona isn't thoughtful towards quarrel and battles. Likewise in light of the fact that Romeo know negligible data about Juliet, he is probably going to end up abandoned in a troubled marriage as terrible marriage frequently occurs on the off chance that one doesn't have the foggiest idea about their accomplice well. Notwithstanding Romeos hastiness, after observing Gullets counterfeit demise, he chooses to slaughter himself, regardless of the reality he saw clear indications of life even with Juliet. O my adoration, my significant other! Passing, that hath sucked the nectar of thy breath. Hath had no force yet upon thy magnificence. Thou workmanship not won. Magnificence Is ensign yet Is red In thy lips and In thy cheeks. What's more, passings pale banner Is not progressed there. (Act 5, scene 3, 91-96)The appalling passing of Romeo In the end was likewise expected Tort adolescents AT Nils age are Kelly to De Impetuous, additionally Decease en Knows nothing about Juliet. The rashness is at long last what murdered him. In like manner to Romeo, another character who embodies how hasty choice can cause negative results would be Juliet. Which similarly to Romeo, likewise finished with a heartbreaking demise. Juliet had settled on numerous reckless choices all through the play, some of which were fundamentally the same as Romeos choices. For example, proposing the possibility of union with Romeo, notwithstanding the reality the she realized Rome was a Montague, the sworn adversary of her family. My lone love sprung from my lone loathe. (Act 1, Scene 5, 136) This can prompt more noteworthy quarrel between the two families and bring inconvenience upon her family as clarified in Paragraph one. Besides, Juliet let Romeo into her room the prior night Romeos expulsion, it is amazingly rash, for anybody could have strolled in on the couple any second and they would end up in a tangled circumstance where Romeo could wind up killed in light of the fact that in tho se days it boisterous be viewed as a shame upon the female side familys notoriety. At last, after discovering Romeo dead, Juliet likewise chooses to end herself by wounding herself in the chest. She didn't mull over some other decisions or thoughts. Emulate, Noise? At that point I will be brief. O upbeat blade, this is thy sheath, there rust and let me kick the bucket. (Act 5, Scene 3, 169-171) Does this scene not appear to be natural? As Romeo responded a similar way when he saw her? This further supports adolescents are careless essentially thusly can cause negative outcomes, for example, demise. Appeared from past model, Romeo and Juliet are exceptionally hasty. Be that as it may, the most careless character in the play must be no other however Table. Known for his tyrannous temper and careless demeanor, Tables carelessness is past any characters in the play. Which additionally similarly to different reckless characters, finished with an appalling demise. For example, at Lord Caplets party, he must be limited from endeavoring to duel with Romeo and slaughtering him despite the fact that Lord Caplet, his uncle, advised him not to. This, by his voice, ought to be a Montague. Bring me my Rapier, kid. What, sets out the slave come here, secured with a prank face, to deride and hate at our gravity? Presently by the stock and respect of my family, to strike him dead I hold it not a transgression! (Act 1, Scene 5, 51-57) Moreover to his rashness at the gathering he likewise concludes that he would acknowledge the duel with Meretricious, in spite of recognizing the way that he would be seriously rebuffed by the Prince of Verna. Whats considerably progressively hasty is that, in the wake of slaughtering Meretricious; he additionally acknowledged the duel with Romeo, rather than fleeing, presently he have 2 organization on him which would cost him his life regardless of whether he did tricky Romeo. Thou vomited kid, you spent time with him here, and youre going to go to paradise with him. Act 3, scene 1, 126-127) This last demonstration of carelessness at long last cost him his life, for Romeo kills him. From the ideal models of carnage and demise brought about by the characters careless choice. Shakespeare was clear about how youngsters can wind up in negative outcomes in the event that the individual were to act carelessly. Had Romeo, Juliet, or Table even Just considered those choices for a second, they would have not end up dead. Similarly as the maxim goes Few things are brought to a fruitful issue by rash want, yet most by quiet and judicious thinking ahead. Talks about, Greek Historian, and Athenian General

SECURITY MECHANISMS Encryption Encryption is the usual way to meet the data confidentiality requirements and although using a symmetric algorithm (symmetric or asymmetric) could be used, there are good reasons for using symmetric [Financial times, November 8, 1996]. Message Authentication A Message Authentication Code (MAC) is a cryptographic checksum, calculated using a symmetric algorithm, which is appended to a message and which can be verified by the recipient of the message. The use of MAC is one method of providing the integrity and authentication services, but it is not appropriate for meeting the requirements for no repudiation. Digital Signature A digital signature is a checksum, calculated using the private key of an asymmetric key pair, which is appended to a message and which can be verified by anyone with access to the corresponding public key. The digital signature is dependent on the complete message, so any change to the message will be detected. The real difference between MAC and digital signature is that as well as providing integrity and authentication, the later also provide non-repudiation. Algorithms and Cryptographic Mechanisms The constraint linked with each cryptographic algorithm (computation resources, time to compute, key management, algorithm capability and design†¦) limits their use for only a given number of security services. The following table lists the main security services and states whether RSA or DES (Data Encryption Standard) can address them [Denny, 1998] CONCLUSION The present status of e-banking is not satisfactory in case of virtual banking, call center and SMS banking. But all banks under study have their connectivity with SWIFT channel. Major reason is that secu rity concern. One study in Europe reported that there is 2.6% increase in establishment of Bank branches. That means that E-Banking is declining in Europe. The main concern is security. So, data confidentiality, integrity, proof of origin, peer entity authentication, non-repudiation must be ensured. A few problems have been experienced by the IT heads in the Banks such as withdrawal of money beyond the limit. This has taken place at ATM booths because there is agreement between Banks regarding networking sharing. Gigantic fraud does not take place because there is limit in ATM Debit and Credit card to withdraw money from the booths [Barbara, 1997]

The Feminist Agenda Is Not About Equal Rights For Women

Pat Robertson is a TV celebrity that has always made the news for his inappropriate comments regarding pretty much anything that goes against his evangelical ways. He is an absurdly conservative political activist, which has left him to say notorious things and be hated by many. For example, he declared The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians†. As expected, this quote has caused a widespread uproar in the feminist community. The false statement denounces feminism as a whole. Feminism’s main purpose is to achieve equality for women in all†¦show more content†¦As a feminist, she refutes Robertson’s claim that feminists are not interested in having a husband or being married. Gay writes about the different types of feminists and how she is not a the essenti al feminist that is often the reason for the stereotypes of feminists. Although feminists often choose not to get married due to the fact that they do not want to feel oppressed under a man that thinks a woman is inferior to him just by her gender. By choosing to stay single they focus on other parts of their lives that would otherwise be limited by being married. Because some choose to develop their friendships and work on their careers instead of looking for a relationship that does not automatically mean that all feminists are not interested in getting married and having a family. Feminist have been wrongly stereotyped as women that hate kids. Due to the fact that feminists are also stereotyped as men hating, which by biological means if women do not have a relationship with a man they cannot bear children. As for the reality about feminists and their desire for children is a personal choice, but for most they are interested in having a family. Gay says â€Å"I love babies , and I want to have one†(316) she also says â€Å"I worry about dying alone, unmarried and childless, because I spent too much time pursuing my career and accumulating degrees†(316).

Computers And Marketing Essay Example For Students

Computers And Marketing Essay Marketing is the process by which goods are sold and purchased. The aim ofmarketing is to acquire, retain, and satisfy customers. Modern marketing hasevolved into a complex and diverse field. This field includes a wide variety ofspecial functions such as advertising, mail-order business, public relations, retailing and merchandising, sales, market research, and pricing of goods. Businesses, and particularly the marketing aspect of businesses, rely agreat deal on the use of computers. Computers play a significant role ininventory control, processing and handling orders, communication betweensatelite companies in an organization, design and production of goods, manufacturing, product and market analysis, advertising, producing the companynewsletter, and in some cases, complete control of company operations. In todays extremely competitive business environment businesses aresearching for ways to improve profitability and to maintain their position inthe marketplace. As competition becomes more intense the formula for successbecomes more difficult. Two particular things have greatly aided companies intheir quests to accomplish these goals. They are the innovative softwareproducts of CAD/CAM and, last but not least, the World Wide Web. An important program has aided companies all over the world. Computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) is the integration oftwo technologies. It has often been called the new industrial revolution. InCAD, engineers and designers use specialized computer software to create modelsthat represent characteristics of objects. These models are analyzed by computerand redesigned as necessary. This allows companies needed flexibility instudying different and daring designs without the high costs of building andtesting actual models, saving millions of dollars. In CAM, designers andengineers use computers for planning manufacturing processes, testing finishedparts, controlling manufacturing operations, and managing entire plants. CAM islinked to CAD through a database that is shared by design and manufacturingengineers. The major applications of CAD/CAM are mechanical design and electronicdesign. Computer-aided mechanical design is usually done with automated draftingprograms that use interactive computer graphics. Information is entered intothe computer to create basic elements such as circles, lines, and points. Elements can be rotated, mirrored, moved, and scaled, and users can zoom in ondetails. Computerized drafting is quicker and more accurate than manualdrafting. It makes modifications much easier. Desktop manufacturing enables a designer to construct a model directly fromdata which is stored in computer memory. These software programs help designersto consider both function and manufacturing consequences at early stages, whendesigns are easily modified. More and more manufacturing businesses are integrating CAD/CAM with otheraspects of production, including inventory tracking, scheduling, and marketing. This idea, known as computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM), speeds processingof orders, adds to effective materials management, and creates considerable costsavings. In addition to designing and manufacturing a product, a company must beeffectively able to advertise, market, and sell its product. Much of whatpasses for business is nothing more than making connections with other people. What if you could passout your business card to thousands, maybe millions ofpotential clients and partners? You can, twenty four hours a day, inexpensivelyand simply on the World Wide Web. Firms communicate with their customersthrough various types of media. This media usually follows passive one-to-manycommunication where a firm reaches many current and potential customers throughmarketing efforts that allow limited forms of feedback on the part of thecustomer. For several years a revolution has been developing that isdramatically changing the traditional form of advertising and communicationmedia. This revolution is the Internet, a massive global network ofinterconnected computer networks which has the potential to drastically changethe way firms do business with their customers. Mine EssayYou can place documents on the Internet and instantly make them accessible tomillions of users around the world. Hypertext documents provide an effectivetechnique by which to present information to subscribers, clients or the generalpublic. Creating World Wide Web documents and registering your site with largerWeb sites improves the availability of the documents to a client base larger, and cheaper, than the circulation of many major newspapers and/or televisionmedias. You may not be able to use the mail, phone system and regulationsystems in all of your potential international markets. With the World Wide Web,however, you can open up a dialogue with international markets as easily as withthe company accross the street. The Web is also more cost-effective than conventional advertising. Transferring on-line documents via the Internet takes a minimal amount of time, saving a great deal of money over postal or courier services which can alsosuffer late deliveries, losses or damage. If a document transfer fails on theInternet, you can always try again since the cost of the transfer is exactly thesame. Current or potential clients are not lost due to late or absent documents. Beyond product and market analysis, there are a great number of experts onthe Internet who make their presence widely known and easily accessable. Quiteoften you can get free advice and help with problems you might have from thesame people you may otherwise pay highly for their consulting services to largeorganizations, magazines, and other periodicals. Researchers and businessexecutives alike have attested to the fact that much of their communicationsover the Internet are with others in their line of research or field of work. Communicating with peers allows the sharing of ideas, problems and solutionsamong themselves. Often people find that others in their field have alreadycreated solutions for problems similar to their own. They are able to obtainadvice on their own situations and create a solution based upon this sharedknowledge. Many businessmen and conpanies are continuously on the look-out for new andinnovative ideas as viable business ventures. Internet users are continuouslycoming up with such new ideas because of the available research the Internetoffers and also because of the cooperative atmosphere that surrounds theinternet. In addition, the Internet has many job lists and resumes online forprospective employers. New resumes are constantly posted to the Web to informcompanies of the availability of new skills. As competition intensifies in the business world, consumers are faced withmore and more products and services to choose from. The future of business isbeing decided right now in the minds and wallets of customers. The successfulbusiness and marketing approach utilizes everything possible to insure that thechoice the customer makes is to choose their product or service. Free Essays on Cogito Ergo Sum

â€Å"Cogito Ergo Sum† â€Å"Then the Lord God formed man of the dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being† (Genesis 2:7). The Bible states the above as the moment man became a being, and from this being civilization was created. To a believer, this would answer the question of what a human is. However, as science has progressed and more abstract ideology has fallen upon the human race, this question has come to have many answers. I feel that the definition of the term human can be correct in many different ways. As a scientific definition one could say a human is a bipedal homo sapien sapien with a spine that attached to the bottom of the skull. As a Theologist a human is all the trials and tribulations that we read about in the Bible. To me both of these definitions are true, but the challenge is finding one definition that spans across all ideology. After much thought and distress I have concluded that to be human, to be a person, is merely to exist. I agree with the statement â€Å"cogito ergo sum,† or I think therefore I am. If all you can prove without doubt is that, to exist is to thin! k, then that is our definition. History Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 41

History - Essay Example point out that the most spectacular invent in the history of the United States of America (USA) that captivates my interests is the election of Barrack Obama as the 44th President of USA. Indeed, this is a historical event in USA which was followed by people from all corners of the world. This is due to the fact that it involved something which no one could imagine about before. As a black, it was quite surprising that Obama managed to appeal to the electorates to consider his presidential bid. Further more, he succeeded in emerging victorious over his opponent who was a Native American whom had been credited as a patriot because he had sent his entire life serving his nation. It was of course, a great history which will not shed off the memories of Americans and the global community for many years to come. However, in order to prove the credibility of this event, it had to be preserved for the future generations to at least know about how exactly it happened. Meaning, in my pursuit to understand it, I had to look for primary sources of information available within my reach. For this reason, I went to the nearby museum and got a collection of newspaper articles published at the time of this event. These include Adam Nagourney’s Obama Wins Election; McCain Loses as Bush Legacy Is Rejected and Obama Elected President as Racial Barrier Falls which were published by the New York Times on November 4, 2008. These are some of the most suitable publications which can be heavily relied upon as the primary sources of information about this event. They were written by Adam Nagourney a practicing journalist with the reputable New York Times Newspaper which was actively involved in covering the 2008 presidential elections. This makes them so credible. Besides, Adam was personally present during the entire period of 2008 elections. Therefore, he is credible to produce such an article since he has much first hand information which can be used as evidence for reconstructing

Problem Solving Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Problem Solving - Assignment Example This can be achieved through the formation of labor organizations, which would look into the grievances and welfare of workers (Hill and Jones 359). It would also be necessary to ensure that Apple and Foxconn’s recruitment and selection practices of their employees are reviewed. They should ensure that they hire people of integrity who must be able to ethically carryout their duties. A clear policy guideline should be formulated with laws being set to safeguard the rights of employees. A question of conjecture If the solution to this situation is to ensure transparency prevails, how can pressure offer this solution? It is apparent that Apple pays extraordinary attention to their publicity and social image. In this regard, if pressure is something to go by, it can be argued that Apple will continue exhibiting these problems as long as there is no pressure. Besides, can pressure be the best solution for long-term solution to these problems? It is like arguing that a government f aced with problems in delivering to its citizens can only be corrected by its citizens pressuring it. Of course, it is one of the solutions, and, which tends to offer short-term ones. What needs to be done is to ensure that accountability is insisted. The most important thing is to ensure that every person is accountable for his or her deeds (Hill and Jones 360). The government should, for example, ensure that all organizations adhere to set laws that safeguard employees. A question of value Can the option of the government of china protecting freedom and rights of workers by establishing a real work union be a solution to these problems? If the government can reform its own auditing practices, there would be an efficient monitoring of human rights and labor violations in factories. It is, therefore, true to argue that reforming auditing practice would allow workers air their grievances and that they would have an effective, collective voice in determining matters related to their w orking conditions. When workers are unable to add their voices in the decision making, most of their problems go unattended. It would, therefore, be necessary if workers are allowed to join labor unions, and above all, be incorporated in the decision making process, especially on matters concerning wages and working conditions (Hill and Jones 359). A question of policy What are current policies regarding workers wages and working conditions? It is apparent that there are no adequate policies in china that look into issues of factory workers. FLA Chief Executive Officer argued that there were no conclusive remarks from the president of FLA on the working conditions of young workers that come from rural areas to work in the industries. This means that the rights of these young workers in china can not be guaranteed. It would be vital that the government come up with statutes that would cater for the rights of workers in industries. Perhaps, the issue of inserting pressure by the publi c on government should be considered ideal in this situation. Industries and other organizations operating in a country that does not have well defined workers rights would tend to take advantage of this fact to exploit their workers. Nevertheless, this goes beyond inserting pressure on the government. It is the responsibility of its citizens to ensure that they vote in leaders of integrity into power. Leaders that would be concerned about workers issues. Conclusion

The audience in Act 1 Scene 1 of A Taste of Honey Essay Example for Free

The audience in Act 1 Scene 1 of A Taste of Honey Essay How does Shelagh Delaney establish the relationship of the main characters for the audience in Act 1 Scene 1 of A Taste of Honey? The first scene is probably the most important scene of all, as it tells us about the nature of the characters and their attitudes. The first words of the play that are stage directions play a big part. The quote the stage represents a comfortless flat . . . . . the street outside. Jazz music this tell us about the time in which they lived which was post war Britain from the jazz music. Jazz music is associated with the blues that was music about being down on your luck which was popular at these times. Mentioning that they lived in Manchester also gave a feeling of their surroundings. In Manchester at this time of the play there would have been few people of other ethnic origins as opposed to 1 in 20 British citizens being African, Asian or Caribbean origin in the 1990s. Also in that day and age it was only a tiny minority of the population on which were single parents. This would be the most important scene because it gave us an idea of what Helen and Jo are like. It tells us what there attitudes are and what sort of relationship they have. Helen reacts differently to Helen at the first impressions of the flat. While Helen is making the flat sounding a lot better than it actually is to make her feel a little bit better so she doesnt feel like a failure, Deep down inside she knows she is. Helen about the flat when she says Whats wrong with this place? . . . . . Anyway it will do for us. Jo hates the flat and expresss her feelings when she expresss to her mother I dont like it which are also the first words Jo, says in the play. Also Jo keeps pointing out faults to the flat like the roofs leaking and I bet itll smell trying to persuade Helen that the flat she had taken was a dump. You could say that Jo is pessimist and Helen is an optimist when it comes to attitudes to the flat. The setting of the flat is very depressing and greatly affects the characters of the play and brings them down. From the descriptions of the characters there are all the things people dont want to live near such as the gasworks, the slaughterhouse, tenements and a cemetery. Also when they arrive in the flat its raining which I think reflects how the characters are feeling and how low they are at the time. In the time Jo and Helen moved into the flat it was post war Britain and everything was being spent on buildings that needed restoring from the bombing during the wars. This meant that very little money was being spent to improve the condition of housing. The state of the flat affects Jo and Helen causing tension and most arguments nearly always start from living conditions of their flat. The flat also represents the chain of their life. They move from one run old flat to another that we find out when Jo says, Every place we find is the same which shows they are in a cycle they cannot break. Jo and Helen are mother and daughter, but as a reader its more of a sister relationship. Helen isnt a supportive mother and puts Jo down when she can which we find out when she says The way she bangs about! I tell you, my heads coming off. In the play there is one part where Helen offers to pay for Jo to go to Art School. Even though she says Have you ever . . . youll soon learn I dont think she means it and follow through with promises. They talk to one and other like they have no respect for each other. Jo doesnt show respect to her mother because she sees no reason to, after all, what has Helen ever done for Jo? Helen also doesnt care for Jo, as she never shows any affection to Jo at all when Jo says, Youve certainly never been affectionate with me. If Jo and Helen werent mother and daughter I think they wouldnt want to know each other if they had the choice. Its almost as if they had been forced together. The most likely subject to cause arguments is the state of the flat and how they actually treat each other. Also Shelagh Delaney uses humour, as in the form of sarcasm which relieves the tension of the atmosphere of the play and gives a little bit of light relief which Helen expresses when she says Why, have we run out of cemetery space? . . . When were gone. There is also a lot of jealousy between Jo and Helen. Jo is jealous of Helens men because she always shows affection to them rather than her. Also Jo once said I used to like one of them fancy men which also shows jealousy because Helen was hanging round him and never noticed Jo. Helen is jealous of Jo because she is young. When they first enter the flat Jo is a lot more organised than Helen and takes over the mother role because straight away she looks for sufficient heating God! Its freezing! Isnt their ant sort of fire anywhere, Helen? Also she puts a scarf round the light as a lampshade to make the room feel better with a softer light. To these characters the audience would feel tension as soon as they had walked through the door. But Shelagh Delaney tries to relax the mood with added sarcasm. When Peter enters he is presented as a brash car salesman, cigar in mouth, and from his dialogue we find he is a very selfish self-centred man. He doesnt care about anyones feelings when he says, Why dont you go home to your father? . . . Too bad to Jo that is a very sensitive issue to her, because of the fact she doesnt even know who her father is. He also tries to drag her to the pub knowing full well she that wasnt feeling well. When Peter is present she always she always wants to be there to get her mothers attention as a way of being spiteful to her. Helen acts as if Peter is an unwanted presence and tries to push him away at every advance he makes on her. But in the end she quite likes him as we find out when she says, Well, you certainly liberate something in me. And I dont think its maternal instincts either. The relationships in the first scene are very clear between Jo and Helen as we find out from the first time there is introduced. They fight as soon as they walk through the door of the flat. They both hate each other but in the end they care for each other. The relationship between Helen and Peter isnt that clear as it mentions little history, but from what Helen says hes not very nice person. We do find out that Helen had tried to escape from Peter when she says, How did you find my address. Its also clear that Jo doesnt like Peter as she tries to ruin Helens relationship with Peter. Also we know that Peter isnt interested in Jo and we find this out as Peter doesnt show any consideration to Jos feelings.

Explain :: English Literature

Explain Explain what is happening in each of the following poems and compare and contrast the different ways in which they deal with the theme of sorrow. The first poem ‘Remember’ by Christina Rossetti is a late romantic, early Victorian sonnet, which is about someone who has passed away. ‘The chimney sweeper’ by William Blake, is written in 1740’s and is about a young child chimney sweep and his plight. ‘Remember’ is written in the narrative voice so that it seems as if the person who passed away is speaking. The poem talks about how the deceased person has gone to a calmer, more peaceful place and how you will no longer be able to touch or feel them again. ‘Gone far away†¦ hand.’ The first part of the poem is dark and mournful but because it is a sonnet it allows for a more optimistic and comforting turn after line eight. It tells people that there is a time for grief and a time to move on but that they should not feel any guilt. Christina Rossetti has written the poem so that it flows and sounds rather like a song. The mood of the poem is sombre and she repeats the word ‘remember’ throughout the sonnet. This reminds the reader what the focus of the poem is and gives it structure throughout it. It also emphasises the meaning of the poem. The poem deals with the theme of sorrow in the form of death. However it is not a dark poem and makes death not seem that bad. She uses the sonnet form so that in line 9 there is a shift. This creates a break in the poem. Up to line 9 the poem is about grief and sadness but then it shifts and becomes more philosophical. Christina Rossetti uses euphemistic language such as ‘darkness’ and ‘corruption’ to represent death. This creates depth and makes you think about the poem. She also uses metaphors in her euphemistic language such as ‘silent-land’, which represents Heaven. This poem would be used at funerals because it is written in a way that suggests the deceased person is talking. ‘The chimney sweeper’ is about a young boy who is sold as a chimney sweep. The poem tells of his sad story. William Blake uses narrative voice of a child so that it engages the reader. The rhyming in the poem makes it sound like a child is talking. Blake is trying to show the children as victims by showing how vulnerable and pathetic their cries are. ‘Cry weep, weep, weep’ He uses couplets and verses to

Christian environment Essay

â€Å"Today’s Stock market dropped 5%, unemployment rate reaching 10%, Gross Domestic Products dropped for the sixth month in a row. † This economic crisis happened in South Korea in 1999. For sure it was a big trouble for those who lost the job they thought will be their permanent job, like a government owned financial company which I worked for. I witnessed many employees laid off and they were unable to find a new job for a long time due to the lack of technical skills. This event got me thinking of changing my career. My job as an investment bank teller, was very simple and was being replaced by machine. I quit my banking job and started to study in America in 2000. Everything from language to culture was hard for me to adapt but the dream of finding a meaningful career for the rest of my life was a motivation enough to keep me going. Fortunately, I met a good Christian family who introduced me to nursing and it was so attractive to me. First it is its need to solve common societal issues as caring for aging population and Second I thought nursing always needed human touch. One of the new cultures I have observed while living in America is the stress on personal right. Most of the time I hear how important it is to speak up for your own right or people will intimidate or rip you off. I might be wrong because I am an immigrant as I don’t fully understand American society, but can you imagine I never used to speak up for my own interest in a group of people working together? I had to leave my own interest and think about others and the whole organizations. That is how I was taught at home and school in Korea and I learned that practicing these values, altruism and respecting wholeness, brings more joy than loss to my life. Moral Re Armament; was a name of group activity that I was involved in high school. From this group activity,I found myself volunteering for the community. We learned dancing and songs and performed at elderly care centers and orphanages. We visited them with food, helped them clean and played with them regularly. For me it was heart breaking to see how people could be lonely and living in a poor condition. However, these experiences opened my eyes to the world surrounding me as I had thought that I was the poor and the unfortunate one by not having both parents. I started to appreciate the little things such as living in a home, seeing my family each day and laughing with my friends. Most important of all that I learned was extending my hands to those who need help and knowing that there are people in need of help. The reason I chose Loma Linda University Nursing School is because of its Christian environment. I used to believe there was some power handling world beyond human’ limitation, I learned it was God’s hands. Nine years ago when I arrived in America , I needed help desperately, I went to a Korean church. In there I found God’s existence and saw people living as Christians. For me becoming a nurse wouldn’t be possible if there’s no God’s intervention. I have now decided to step towards new nursing knowledge. I believe a good nurse needs to have humbleness, compassion and caring mind for the sick like what we were taught by Jesus. These Christian perspectives in nursing education at Loma Linda University will play an important role in my career to become a good nurse caring for aging population.

The Antacid Rocket Experiment

If your child has tried the Naked Egg Experiment, he has seen how the chemical reaction between calcium carbonate and vinegar can remove an eggshell. If he’s tried The Exploding Sandwich Bag Experiment, then he knows a little bit about acid-base reactions. Now he can harness that reaction create a flying object in this Antacid Rocket Experiment. With some open space outdoors and a little caution your child can send a homemade rocket into the air by the power of a fizzy reaction. Note: The Antacid Rocket Experiment used to be called the Film Canister Rockets, but with digital cameras taking over the market, it’s become harder and harder to find empty film canisters. If you can film canisters, that’s great, but this experiment recommends you use mini MM tubular containers or clean, empty glue stick containers instead. What Your Child Will Learn (or Practice): Scientific inquiryObserving chemical reactionsThe Scientific Method Materials Needed: Mini MMs tube, a clean used-up glue stick container or a film canisterHeavy paper/card stockTapeMarkersScissorsBaking sodaVinegarTissuesAntacid tablets (Alka-Seltzer or a generic brand)Soda (optional) Tissues are not a necessity for this experiment, but using tissue can help to delay the chemical reaction long enough to give your child some time to get out of the way. Make Baking Soda and Vinegar Rockets Have your child sketch out and decorate a small rocket on a piece of heavy paper. Ask her to cut out the rocket and set it to the side.Help your child cut the â€Å"hinge† holding the cover to the MMs tube so it comes on and off. This will be the bottom of the rocket.Give her another piece of heavy paper and have her roll it around the tube, making sure the bottom of the rocket is easily accessible. Then, have her tape it tightly in place. (She may need to cut the paper to make it fit better).Glue the rocket she drew and cut out to the front of the tube to make the whole thing look more like a real rocket.Move outside to a clear, open area and open the containerFill it one-quarter full with vinegar.Wrap 1 teaspoon of baking soda in small piece of tissue.Warning: You must act quickly in this step! Stuff the folded tissue in the tube, snap it shut and stand it up (with the lid down) on the ground. Move away!Watch the rocket pop right up into the air after the tissue dissolves in the vinegar. Make an Antacid Rocket Use the same rocket from the baking soda and vinegar experiment, making sure to clean it thoroughly first.Take off the cover and put an antacid tablet into the tube. You may have to break it into pieces to get it all to fit. You can use generic antacid tablets but Alka-Seltzer works better than generic brands.Add a teaspoon of water to the tube, snap on the cover and put the rocket — lid down — on the ground.Watch what happens once the water dissolves the antacid tablet. What’s Going On Both rockets are working under the same principle. A baking soda and vinegar mixture and the water and antacid combination create an acid-base chemical reaction that releases carbon dioxide gas. The gas fills the tube and the the air pressure builds to a point where it is too great to be contained. That’s when the lid pops off and the rocket flies up into the air. Extend the Learning Experiment with different types of paper and how much baking soda and vinegar you use. It may help make the rocket fly higher, faster, or even be coordinated to a countdown.Ask your child compare how the different rockets worked. Which worked better?Substitute soda for water in the antacid rocket and see if it works differently.
